What is the End-of-Life (EOL) indicator and why is my watch skipping seconds?

The End-of-Life (EOL) indicator appears on selected quartz movements when the battery is nearly depleted. The seconds hand pauses and then jumps forward, often in four-second steps, while the watch continues to keep time. The watch is not necessarily faulty, but the battery should be replaced promptly by a professional watchmaker or an authorized service centre.
